Pittsburgh Glass Works, North Carolina
ISO 7 and ISO 8 Clean Room for Automotive Glass Company in the USA
Puracore Clean Rooms were selected by Hodess Cleanroom Construction to supply a system of clean room components for a renowned automotive company, Pittsburgh Glass Works.
Requirements of the project
Pittsburgh Glass Works is a leading manufacturer of automotive glass products working with most major car manufacturers. They required an expansion of their manufacturing plant in Elkin, North Carolina where sensitive vinyl laminating of safety glass takes place – as a result ISO 7 (Class 10,000) and ISO 8 (Class 100,000) clean room areas and ceilings were required.
Manufacturing panels for the clean room solution
Puracore manufactured and supplied a range of 100mm and 10mm thick panels for the expansion. To prevent thermal and humidity transfer the panels were manufactured with an insulating mineral fibre core and faced with a hygienic polyester finish.
All panels were designed for the project and fit the ceiling structure that had been fitted by Hodess, these panels were also manufactured with bespoke openings and ancillaries to fit air handling systems and lighting.
Successful supply and logistics to North Carolina
As the clean room expansion site was in the USA the team at Puracore had to meet delivery deadlines and solve complex logistical challenges regarding international shipping. The bespoke clean room panels were also packaged specifically for overseas freight to prevent any damage.
