Folium Optics, Bristol
Modular clean room system for advanced optics company
Folium Optics was established in 2013 by Steve Kitson and John Rudin, beginning life from an office in the incubator space in Bristol Robotics Lab, at the University of the West of England. After two successful years, they had outgrown their facilities and moved to an industrial unit in Thornbury, Bristol.
Puracore® were chosen by Folium Optics to supply and deliver a brand new clean room for their facility.
Supplying a tailored modular cleanroom system
Puracore® supplied 50mm thick PET skinned aluminium honeycomb core ceiling panels along with PIR cored wall panels to provide a clean room to meet Folium Optics specifications. Folium Optics also required clamp framed doors for personnel use as well as three flush vision panels to provide views into and out of the cleanroom. The bespoke ceiling panels were pre-cut to provide apertures to fit flush ventilation systems and lighting installations.
Puracore® completely tailored the panel layout to fit the goal post ceiling support structure that had already been put in place. Demonstrating Puracore’s flexibility in manufacturing a system that would fit a support structure that had already installed by a third party.
Successful cleanroom project
The cleanroom has allowed Folium Optics to further develop their technology and produce prototype devices within a controlled environment.
Jon Rudin, CTO of Folium Optics commented on the project’s success:
“We were very happy with the system, the finish is ideal for our needs, allowing us to meet the required results for air leakage and particle testing. The install went very smoothly and we were surprised at how easily it all came together.”
