Puracore have successfully manufactured a series of cleanrooms for new worldwide facility in the Netherlands for Kite Pharma.
Puracore® and one of our approved partners CCG (Cleanroom Combination Group) announce their input on a pioneering project for one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies Kite Pharma.
The facility built for Kite Pharma, offering solutions to personalised cancer treatments and innovative biopharma.
Kite, which was purchased by Gilead, an American biopharmaceutical company, for 12 billion USD in 2017, is an international leader in highly personalised cancer treatments. Its new 117,000-square-foot facility will be situated within the SEGRO Park Amsterdam Airport, in Hoofddorp near Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. From here, Kite will engineer and produce innovative cell therapies and personalised cancer treatments, including axicabtagene ciloleucel, a Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cell (CAR T) therapy that is currently under review by the European Medicines Agency, and which is approved in the United States. It is expected that 300 new jobs will be created by 2020.
The Project – CAR T Cells
Imagine engineering a patient’s own white blood cells to fight cancer. Just a few years ago, this would have sounded like science fiction. Not anymore.
Today this is known as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy, a process that trains a patient’s immune system to recognize, attack and destroy certain types of cancer. Kite’s cell therapy specialists conduct a transformative genetic engineering process that has the ability to change the way cancer is treated.
“Unlike the traditional mass production, make-to-stock manufacturing of pharmaceutical and biotechnology products, CAR T therapies are patient specific,” says Chuck Calderaro, Kite’s Global Head of Technical Operations. “We’re turning each patient’s T cells into cancer-killing T cells to fight the cancer. It is one of the most definitive forms of personalized medicine.”
Throughout the process, speed and efficiency are critical. Kite has a median 16-day turnaround time in the United States – something that would not be possible without state-of-the-art manufacturing and supply capabilities. The team at Kite recognizes this urgency and works hard every day to ensure that each step of the journey is executed with incredible precision and care.
“This precision will empower us to bring this innovative treatment approach to as many appropriate people with certain types of blood cancers as possible,” says Kite CEO Christi Shaw. “Our teams remain focused on executing our strategy to bring potentially life-saving therapies to patients.”

This quick to install yet demountable system provides ease of access for post build and maintenance access. Puracore manufactured and supplied a range of solutions to prevent thermal and humidity transfer with a hygienic polyester finish.
Also featuring Puracore’s 50mm Walk-on FM Approved ceiling. All panels were manufactured to fit the ceiling structure, these panels were also manufactured with pre-set openings and ancillaries to fit air handling systems and lighting solutions.
